JULIA is an actor, educator and a filmmaker. She was born and raised in Honduras until the age of nine, but has called New York her home since the mid-80's. In 1997, Julia attended the renowned American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City where she studied Acting before she made the bold decision to move to Los Angeles to pursue her passion. While there, Julia realized she wanted to work behind-the-scenes in the film industry. A year later, she returned to New York to complete her BA in Communication from the College of Mount Saint Vincent. Upon graduation she received the "Marjorie Connelly Award" for outstanding academic achievement by an adult student. While attending school, Julia balanced a full-time job as Program Coordinator with the Trio Student Support Services, a federally funded national program. Julia's passion, vision and initiative were instrumental in making Trio a success. For over 10 years, Julia has maintained a strong commitment to education and the arts. Her enthusiasm, supportive and socially conscious attitude has led her to serve as advisor and participant for several student and cultural organizations such as La Casa Latina, the Black Student Union and the 100 Hispanic Women, Westchester Chapter. She has donated countless hours to numerous philanthropic causes.
In 2002, she co-wrote, produced and directed her first play titled Roots, a production by La Casa Latina, an organization dedicated to promoting Latino culture throughout the college community. Roots is a story that used both dance and theatre to explore culture identity. In the spring of 2005, she produced and directed her first short film titled Remember, a psychological thriller. In addition, she has produced trailers and industrial projects for various organizations. She is a member of Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society and National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP).
In July of 2007, Julia joined the Sister Outsider Entertainment team as Director of Operations and Production where she will ensure the company continues to be amongst the leading multi-media production companies in the industry. Julia is also furthering her producing education at the New School for Social Research graduate department of Film Studies.
